INTRODUCTION
1: The USA Congress Declaration
It is appropriate to begin our classes with the USA Congress declaration, passed in 1991 and signed by President George Bush, supporting the “Noahide Seven Laws.” Obviously, the Congress in its wisdom recognized the enormous moral value of these Laws for our society, and for the peace of Mankind everywhere. After all, we are all the “Children of Noah,” still bound by his Rainbow Covenant.
Here is an extract from the USA Congress declaration:
Whereas Congress recognizes the historical tradition of ethical values and principles which are the basis of civilized society and upon which our great Nation was founded.
Whereas these ethical values and principles have been the bedrock of society from the dawn of civilization, were known as the Seven Noahide laws:
Whereas without the ethical values and principles the edifices of our civilization stand in serious peril of returning to chaos…”
Congressional resolution (HJ resolution 104 Public Law 102-14.
Signed by President George Bush on 3-26-91.
By this declaration, the USA has become the first nation, ever, to recognize the Noahide laws as the moral fabric of a decent civilization, essential for its welfare.
It behooves, therefore, every American person to be familiar with those Noahide Seven Laws and comprehend their mean
The goal of this course it to introduce the reader to the Noahide Seven Commandments as they appear through the Book of Genesis. I’ve found that this way the student may gain the best insight to the Commandments meaning, and their relevance to our time.
The material presented here is drawn from the Talmud, Midrah, and other basic works such as the commentaries on the Torah, the Book of Zohar, and more. After teaching it for many years I’ve learned to condense the presentation to the minimum necessary for the average student to go by. For the sake of simplicity, I’ve omitted the list of references.
